By travelling to two or more camps, the trip allows you the opportunity to explore further into the mountains and participate more on the trip. You may assist our wranglers with taking the horses out to the meadows at night to stake and hobble and learning to pack and throw the diamond hitch. You’ll be sure to take home some wrangler skills.

Our friendly staff can pick up at the Cranbrook airport. On departure day, you and the other guests will meet at the trailhead where you will meet your guides and get acquainted with your horse. After packing up, we’ll mount up and have a leisurely ride to our base camp – Big Cabin; with lunch served on the trail.
Riding along well-defined horse trails you will ride through lush alpine meadows and majestic Douglas Fir forests and past pristine sparkling mountain lakes. If the urge to stop and fish hits you, we will stop. After all – time is boundless in the wilderness!
Big Cabin is very comfortable, with complete wilderness cooking and dining facilities. All your meals will be prepared by our trail cook, with the help of your guides. Sleeping accommodations are a single, bunkhouse style cabin. We sleep on comfortable sleeping pads and a sleeping bag that you provide.
On the second day we relax in the morning and continue our horseback trip into Hyak Cabin. Hyak Cabin provides similar accommodations to Big Cabin, with more spectacular views of rivers and waterfalls.
Day three sees us trying a new side of “wilderness” – tent camping! Our day will begin with packing and travelling to the South Fork Glacier and Morgeau Glacier. Don’t be surprised if we see grizzly bears sunning themselves on the glacier! Wildlife viewing is abundant. Your guides will prepare a sumptuous supper over the roaring campfire. Believe us, the outdoors truly does inspire your appetite and you will sleep like a baby; under the stars!
On the fourth day, after a hearty breakfast, we will ride to explore the West Fork Glacier. More alpine meadows, more wildlife, more wilderness!
On day five we return to Hyak Cabin via a different route. At the end of the day; relaxation and comradeship with your guides and fellow travelers.
Day six: What’s for breakfast today? Hearty pancakes, mouth watering French toast? Is this really “wilderness”? After your appetite has been curbed, you will mount for a leisurely ride back to Big Cabin.
Day seven will see you beginning the day in relaxation mode while your guides and wranglers “pack”! Once the horses are ready, your trip down the mountain begins, but the wildlife viewing doesn’t end. You will return to the trailhead where you must say good bye to your travelling mates and horse.
